Healthy Kids Programs is seekingPre-Kindergarten Teachersfor three (3) classrooms atBeekman Elementary School, Poughquag, NY.

Location:Beekman Elementary School, Poughquag, NY

Pay:$32.00 - $34.00 per hour

Job Type:Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Schedule:Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:15 PM, following theArlington Central School District 2025–2026 calendar

Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children (ages 3–12) enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. Employer contributions cover the cost of care, so you can focus on your job while your child participates in a safe, structured, and engaging program, all without needing to arrange outside care.

This role provides four-year-olds with a high-quality early learning experience that builds a strong foundation for Kindergarten. The ideal candidate iscreative, culturally responsive, and passionate about early childhood development, with experience in early literacy, multi-disciplinary approaches, and strategies for diverse learners.

This position emphasizeschild-centered learning, literacy and numeracy development, social-emotional growth, and collaboration with colleagues and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Pre-K program aligned withUPK School District requirements

  • Design and teach culturally responsive lessons

  • Assess, track, and provide timely feedback on student progress and development

  • Use positive, age-appropriate guidance strategies

  • Build strong relationships with staff and families through professional communication and engagement

  • Collaborate with teacher assistants and other team members

  • Design classroom environments followingECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale)

  • Develop literacy and math-focused activities using theCreative Curriculum

  • Participate in professional development and program evaluation

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current NYS teaching certificatevalid for service in the early childhood grades

  • Bachelor’s degree(Master’s preferred)

  • Experience teaching preschool-age children

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

To be qualified as a Pre-K teacher, candidates must meetONEof the following qualification options:

(a) New York State Certification Birth–Grade 2

(b) New York State Certification N–6

(c) New York State Certification P, K, 1–6

(d) Bachelor’s Degree & approved 5-Year Plan

Additional Qualifications

  • You have medical clearance to perform all job duties and are free from communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).

  • You bring a warm, friendly, and positive attitude, with strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members. You are professional, dependable, and punctual.

  • You are able to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
