Full job description

Innovate in Charlotte

Thank you for dedicating your time and talent to Lowe’s. We want to give you more opportunities to learn and grow, so if you find a position you’re interested in below, we encourage you to apply!

About the Team Join the team building and evolving Lowe's external partner integration platform, connecting vendors and partners with Lowe's services and capabilities.

The team works across four core areas: partner integrations, shared platform capabilities, the public-facing Developer Hub, and platform operations and support. Each brings different technical challenges and technologies.

As our partner ecosystem grows, we're focused on making integrations more seamless and scalable, reducing partner onboarding time, and expanding the capabilities available through the platform.

About the Role You'll help shape the platform that makes it easier and faster for external partners to connect and do business with Lowe's, influencing how we design, build, scale, and operate it as our partner ecosystem grows.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be a hands-on technical leader driving design and architecture while continuing to build and deliver software. You'll mentor engineers and partner with business teams and external vendors to solve complex technical problems.

You'll work across full-stack development, microservices and APIs, databases, DevOps and CI/CD, observability, and modern engineering practices including spec-driven development.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and hands-on development of complex full-stack solutions spanning applications, APIs, services, integrations, and multiple technology stacks.

  • Build and evolve scalable platform capabilities and Lowe's Developer Hub, making it easier for a growing ecosystem of external partners to integrate with Lowe's.

  • Translate complex business and partner needs into scalable technical solutions using modern engineering practices, including spec-driven development.

  • Drive engineering excellence across DevOps, CI/CD, observability, testing, performance, resiliency, security, and operational reliability.

  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, simplify complex problems, and evaluate emerging technologies and AI-enabled engineering tools that can improve how the team builds and delivers software.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement, if applicable.

  • 7+ years of software development or related engineering experience, including 6+ years working across software engineering competencies such as frontend, microservices and APIs, databases, and DevOps.

  • Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals with experience designing and delivering complex, integrated software solutions across multiple applications or systems.

  • Technical breadth across languages, frameworks, and technologies, with the ability to adapt and make sound architectural decisions rather than being limited to a single stack.

  • Experience delivering solutions through iterative Agile development and providing technical leadership and mentorship while remaining hands-on.

It's a Plus If You Have:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field.

  • Experience building platforms, APIs, integrations, or developer-facing experiences for external developers, vendors, or partners.

  • Experience with Java or other modern programming languages, CI/CD, enterprise integration technologies, and production reliability practices.

  • Experience with systems analysis, high-level solution design, technical documentation, and source control.

  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience, with or without direct reports, and exposure to emerging engineering technologies or AI-enabled development tools.
