Product Specialist II

Department: Automation - Product

Location: Duluth, GA

About the role:

The Product Specialist II is responsible for supporting the strategic and operational management of assigned industrial automation and control product lines throughout the product lifecycle. The role serves as the technical and commercial subject matter expert for assigned products, partnering with engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and customer support to maximize product performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

This position analyzes market conditions, competitive activity, customer requirements, and product performance to support portfolio strategy, new product introductions, pricing recommendations, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Product Specialist II provides technical guidance to internal and external customers while ensuring product information, documentation, and training materials remain accurate and current.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of assigned product portfolios from introduction through end-of-life.

  • Monitor product performance, sales trends, profitability, inventory levels, and customer adoption.

  • Recommend actions to improve revenue growth, margin performance, and market competitiveness.

  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, product launches, lifecycle planning, and product discontinuations.

  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, emerging technologies, and competitive products.

  • Analyze market trends and competitor positioning.

  • Assist in developing pricing recommendations and product positioning strategies.

  • Support product roadmap planning using market intelligence and business analytics.

  • Serve as the technical product expert for assigned product lines.

  • Provide application guidance to sales teams, distributors, system integrators, and customers.

  • Support complex product selection and technical troubleshooting.

  • Assist with resolution of product performance or quality issues.

  • Develop technical product documentation.

  • Create sales tools and competitive comparison materials.

  • Deliver product training to employees, distributors, OEMs, and customers.

  • Support trade shows, customer demonstrations, and industry events.

  • Identify opportunities to improve products, processes, documentation, and customer experience.

  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.

  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Recommend process improvements that improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, etc.) or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of technical education, certifications, and directly related engineering, technical, field service, or industry experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge and capability may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Application Engineering, Technical Sales, or Industrial Automation.

  • Experience supporting industrial electrical products or automation solutions.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
