Job Description

Position Overview

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to support ongoing growth and expansion initiatives across new and expanding healthcare facilities. This individual will serve as the primary IT project lead throughout the facility lifecycle, partnering closely with Planning, Design & Construction, IS&T, clinical, operational, and vendor teams to ensure each new location is technologically ready for a successful opening.

The Project Manager will oversee the technology workstream from early planning and design through implementation and go-live, with particular focus on end-user technology, Epic readiness, infrastructure dependencies, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end IT project management for new facility openings, expansions, renovations, and relocations. Serve as the primary liaison between IT and Planning, Design & Construction teams, ensuring technology requirements are incorporated into facility plans and timelines. Develop and manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, budgets, and overall technology readiness. Coordinate deployment and readiness of end-user devices and technology, including workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other clinical or business technology. Partner with Epic/application teams to establish the IT and Epic go-live strategy for new locations. Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning infrastructure, networking, applications, end-user computing, cybersecurity, clinical technology, operations, and external vendors. Ensure IT dependencies are identified early enough to align with construction, occupancy, activation, and go-live schedules. Facilitate technology planning sessions with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand workflows and requirements for each new location. Develop and oversee technology readiness, testing, cutover, and go-live plans. Coordinate go-live support and issue escalation during facility activation. Provide regular project updates to key stakeholders and leadership while proactively managing risks, roadblocks, and competing priorities. Support transition from project implementation into steady-state IT operations following go-live.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of IT Project Management experience, ideally within a hospital or healthcare environment. Hands-on project experience working within an Epic environment is required. Experience supporting Epic implementations, go-lives, new facility activations, expansions, or major Epic-related projects. Experience managing IT projects associated with new facility builds, expansions, renovations, relocations, or site openings. Experience coordinating end-user device deployments and technology readiness for new locations. Experience partnering cross-functionally with Planning, Design & Construction, IT infrastructure, Epic/application teams, clinical stakeholders, and operations. Strong understanding of how Epic, end-user technology, infrastructure, and clinical workflows come together during a new facility go-live. Demonstrated ability to manage project plans, timelines, budgets, dependencies, risks, vendors, testing, cutover, and go-live activities. Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills. Previous experience leading technology workstreams for hospital or ambulatory facility openings. Epic certification or formal Epic training. PMP, CSM, or similar project management certification. Experience managing multiple facility expansion projects simultaneously.
