Position Summary:

We are seeking an MEP Engineer to lead the design and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for factory-built modular facilities. Our work includes modular data center units with cooling, HVAC, power distribution, controls, and redundant systems. You will work closely with production, fabrication, installation teams, outside engineers, and customers to develop coordinated designs that can be fabricated, installed, serviced, and produced efficiently.

Hands-on experience is central to this role. The ideal candidate has carried designs through fabrication or construction, worked directly with shop and field teams, and demonstrated the ability to improve designs through practical value engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate MEP systems from concept through fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.

  • Develop and review HVAC, cooling-loop piping, electrical distribution, plumbing, controls, and equipment layouts.

  • Evaluate heat loads, utility requirements, equipment capacity, redundancy, service access, and site connections.

  • Lead value engineering of products, materials, equipment selections, and production processes. Identify ways to reduce cost, material use, labor, and installation time while maintaining performance, reliability, safety, and code compliance.

  • Work directly with fabrication, production, purchasing, and installation teams to improve constructability and standardize components across repeatable modular builds.

  • Prepare or oversee calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and design documentation.

  • Resolve design, fabrication, and installation issues in the shop and field.

  • Coordinate with engineering partners and permitting authorities for projects in Missouri and Arkansas.

  • Develop repeatable design details, fabrication standards, installation procedures, and quality checks for modular production.

  • Document value-engineering decisions and communicate their effects on cost, schedule, performance, and serviceability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent substantial engineering experience (7-10 years+ project engineering experience).

  • Experience with commercial or industrial MEP design and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Demonstrated experience carrying designs through fabrication, construction, installation, testing, or commissioning.

  • Hands-on experience working with fabrication, production, construction, or field installation teams to resolve practical design and build issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate products, materials, equipment, and processes for cost, manufacturability, installation efficiency, reliability, and long-term service.

  • Working knowledge of applicable building and trade codes.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or comparable design software.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, fabricators, installers, purchasing personnel, customers, and permitting authorities.

  • Ability to provide specific examples of successful value engineering, including measurable cost savings, reduced installation time, improved manufacturability, or increased reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer license.

  • Experience with modular, prefabricated, or factory-built construction.

  • Experience with data centers, mission critical facilities, industrial facilities, or other high-reliability environments.

  • Experience with cooling loops, HVAC systems, power distribution, controls, redundancy, or equipment integration.

  • Experience developing standardized designs, production methods, fabrication details, or repeatable installation procedures.

  • Experience coordinating engineering work across Missouri, Arkansas, or similar permitting jurisdictions.

  • Familiarity with commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of MEP systems.

  • Experience leading or coordinating outside engineering consultants and specialty contractors.

We are open to candidates whose primary specialty is mechanical or electrical and who can coordinate qualified specialists for the other disciplines. Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical involvement in fabrication or construction rather than experience limited to office-based design.
