GIS Developer

Job Description

We are seeking a senior GIS Developer for an approximately 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. The candidate must be located in Houston, Texas, and available to work onsite four days per week. This individual will develop and support enterprise GIS applications within an Esri-based environment, automate geospatial workflows, maintain spatial data integrations, and contribute to the stabilization and continued modernization of a large-scale GIS platform. The GIS Developer must be capable of independently owning workstreams, communicating progress clearly, and delivering reliable solutions that support operational and business-critical systems.

Skills and Requirements

• 7+ years of GIS development experience in an enterprise environment
• Strong development experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform, including recent versions of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online
• Proficiency in Python, including GIS workflow automation and data-processing scripts
• Experience developing GIS applications using JavaScript
• Hands-on experience with FME and spatial ETL processes
• Experience developing and maintaining web, desktop, or mobile GIS applications
• Knowledge of spatial databases, enterprise system integrations, and REST APIs
• Midstream oil and gas experience
• Pipeline GIS or pipeline operations experience
• Experience supporting GIS systems within the broader energy industry
• Experience with enterprise GIS modernization or platform-upgrade initiatives
• Familiarity with PODS, SQL Server, ArcPy, Azure, or cloud-based GIS architecture
• Experience supporting post-go-live stabilization and ongoing platform enhancements
