Staff Accountant

Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their General Accounting team in El Segundo. This position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, and assisting with quarterly, annual, and audit-related reporting.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an accountant with strong general accounting experience who enjoys working with detailed financial data, meeting deadlines, and supporting a collaborative accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate month-end close activities, including close tracking, journal entry completeness, and monthly reporting.

• Prepare and post recurring journal entries, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and operating expenses.

• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and research and resolve discrepancies and reconciling items.

• Validate period-end transaction data across systems and investigate differences.

• Prepare quarterly analytics and supporting schedules.

• Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting and related deliverables.

• Prepare analyses and schedules to support external audits.

• Provide backup support for check printing, check auditing, and check deposits.

• Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls.

• Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting-related assignments as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

• 2+ years of general accounting or general ledger experience.

• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end close.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
