We have a part-time opening for an ACL Lab Writing Coach to work remotely supporting the Army War College. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Applied Communication & Learning (ACL) Lab Writing Coach services include online one-on-one writing consultations and paper reviews for students in the Resident Education Program (REP), Distance Education Program (DEP), Blended Education Program (BEP), Basic Strategic Arts Program (BSAP), and AWC Fellows Program.

  • The work encompasses providing feedback and guidance on course papers and research projects related to pre-writing strategies, argumentation, organization, style, grammar, and mechanics.

Requirements

  • Pass a background check.

  • Possess a minimum Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, rhetoric, communication studies, or other closely aligned discipline.

  • Contractor personnel shall be proficient in English and have experience tutoring students in writing in an academic setting and at least a basic knowledge of writing center scholarship, theories, and practices.

  • Have demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 and shall be able to perform word processing and data entry tasks associated with evaluating and electronically annotating student writing submissions and recording correspondence and consultations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience instructing English as a Second Language students
