Sourcing Consultant

What You'll Do

Further your career today as a Sourcing Consultant at Principal Financial Group! We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our Global Sourcing team in Des Moines, IA. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with business partners and suppliers to develop strategic consulting and business intelligence/market data contracts and relationships.

• Coach and influence internal and external leaders and teams to promote effective strategies in category management and accomplish business objectives

• Collaborate with our leaders to deliver solutions for their business needs as we produce outcomes our customers love

• Support overall category management objectives

• Support internal compliance and supply chain policies, procedures, strategies, and guidelines

• Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing and supplier management activities for medium-to-high complexity third-party needs, including supply and demand planning, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management

• Redline contracts and negotiate preferred Principal terms and conditions while balancing business, legal, financial, and operational requirements.

• Analyze data to identify meaningful insights and support business decision-making

Who You Are

• 5+ years of related experience (e.g., sourcing, supply chain management, contract negotiation, or contract law) demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education

• Knowledge of and experience with strategic sourcing principles, supplier management, and contract negotiation. Experience supporting business intelligence/market data categories are preferred but not required

• Demonstrated experience managing contracts and partnering with stakeholders to deliver sourcing outcomes

• Extensive experience negotiating business intelligence/market data agreements

• Prior experience includes analyzing spending patterns, managing supplier relationships, tracking performance, reporting, and strategic planning

• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and effectively collaborate with others to drive positive outcomes

• Strong oral and written communication skills

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$89300 - $127000 / year

Salary Details

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across the two cities this position is open to.

• Des Moines, IA: $89,300 - $120,650 / year

• Charlotte, NC: $94,000 - $127,000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
