General Overview

General Overview

TCS is looking for a highly motivated, organized, driven and collaborative Buyer. The buyer is responsible for procurement and materials management activities including supplier sourcing, purchasing negotiations, purchase order administration, inventory management, supplier performance management, and on-time delivery monitoring. Ensures material availability to support production requirements while achieving cost savings objectives and maintaining compliance with company policies and ISO quality standards.

This position is to be filled onsite in Chatsworth, CA. No employer visa sponsorship is available.

Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs and solicit quotes from qualified vendors.

  • Generate and administer Purchase Orders (POs), including pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.

  • Negotiate supplier pricing, lead times, freight, and other purchasing terms to achieve cost savings.

  • Monitor inventory levels, stock locations, order points, and order quantities to maintain appropriate inventory levels.

  • Perform inventory transactions, cycle counts, inventory reconciliation's, and investigate inventory discrepancies.

  • Track POs and supplier commitments; expedite shortages and past-due orders.

  • Monitor supplier quality, delivery, responsiveness, and overall performance.

  • Coordinate vendor and carrier shipments to ensure timely delivery to TCS.

  • Work with Operations and Scheduling to ensure materials are available to support production requirements.

  • Maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, and delivery information in the ERP system.

  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice and purchasing discrepancies.

  • Assist the Operations Manager with production-related tasks and other operational activities as assigned.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies and ISO quality standards.

  • Accurately record time in Costpoint and meet established productivity and quality targets.

The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the Manager or Supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately manage purchase orders, inventory records, and supplier information.

  • Working knowledge of purchasing, procurement, supply management, inventory control, and supplier management practices.

  • Proven ability to negotiate pricing, lead times, freight, and other supplier terms based on budget, production requirements, and delivery schedules.

  • Ability to analyze RFQs, quotes, inventory requirements, supplier commitments, and delivery information to support purchasing decisions.

  • Ability to monitor inventory levels, identify shortages or discrepancies, and maintain appropriate stock levels to support production.

  • Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve purchasing, inventory, supplier, and delivery issues.

  • Ability to work effectively with Operations, Production, Scheduling, Engineering, Accounting, and other departments to support business and production requirements.

  • Professional and effective communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate tact, patience, and professionalism when working with suppliers and coworkers.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook).

  • Experience with ERP, MRP, purchasing, accounting, or inventory management systems; Costpoint experience preferred.

  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages, discounts, quantities, and unit conversions.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

This position may require exposure to information, which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e., the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be "U.S. persons" within the meaning of U.S. regulations.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $72,000-$80,000 annually (based on experience)

  • 100% PAID COVERAGE for Medical, Dental, and Vision for the EMPLOYEE and DEPENDENTS
