Network Engineer – Cisco Routing & Switching - Onsite

Job Duties

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Network Engineer - Cisco Routing & Switching position with a Renowned Healthcare Organization located in Austin, MN. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

Compensation: $68.00 - $72.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to design, configure, and maintain enterprise switching and routing infrastructure. This role requires a self-directed professional who can operate independently on well-defined initiatives while remaining a strong collaborator within a broader engineering team to design, configure, manage, troubleshoot, support, and implement the Telecom/Network Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, participate in decisions on technical direction, architecture design, and product selection for the enterprise telecom/data network

Assist with the deployment of telecom/network technology

Exercise independent judgment and work on complex technical issues under general direction

Provide input to short- and long-term section strategy and budget planning

Plan and lead small projects and perform project management, coordinating the efforts of internal and external staff

Oversee projects and tasks assigned to project team members on occasion

Participate in implementations and troubleshooting efforts that may have significant impact

Primary Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of professional technical work experience, OR Associate's degree with a minimum of four (4) years of professional technical work experience, OR a minimum of six (6) years of professional technical work experience without a degree

Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco switches (Catalyst C9000 series)

Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco routers (Catalyst C8000 series)

Experience deploying equipment at both the access layer and distribution layer

Strong working knowledge of the OSI model, specifically Layers 1-3 (Physical, Data Link, Network)

Expert knowledge of telecom/network concepts

Knowledge of basic telecom/network management and monitoring tools

Ability to work with minimal direction and effectively in a team environment

Customer-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Good organizational, time management, and solid analytical skills

Desired Skills:

MEC (Multi-Chassis EtherChannel) configuration experience

SD-WAN deployment or administration experience
