Position Summary:

The Department of Government, Law & Policy at Arkansas State University, a Carnegie-classified R2 research university, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in public administration, beginning in Fall 2027. This is a fully online teaching position, and the successful candidate may work remotely.

The primary teaching responsibility will be in the department's NASPAA-accredited online MPA program, with the potential to also teach public administration and policy courses in the department's online undergraduate program in political science. The search is open with respect to area of specialization within public administration and public policy. Because our online curricular needs span the field, we are especially interested in candidates with flexible teaching interests who are prepared to teach across more than one area, including some combination of public management, leadership, budgeting and finance, grant writing, human resources management, and non-profit management. Candidates with substantial applied experience in public or nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply, as are candidates with a demonstrated record of effective online instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility of this position is the delivery of high-quality online instruction in the MPA program and, as needed, the online undergraduate program in political science. Although all faculty are expected to mentor students, the primary focus of this position is teaching courses and contributing to the ongoing success of the MPA program.

  • Other duties as assigned.

All items listed below are required and must be submitted in order for your file to be considered complete:

  • A statement of purpose indicating teaching interests and relevant professional experience

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., sample syllabi, student evaluations, or a brief teaching statement addressing online instruction)

  • Three letters of recommendation, to be requested if selected for interview.

Arkansas State University is a comprehensive public research university located approximately 70 miles northwest of Memphis, TN. The department offers a well-rounded curriculum to its more than 120 majors.
