Employment Type: Full timeShift: Rotating Shift Description: Primary duties will include Pyxis role staffing and training of new colleagues, in addition to regulatory oversite and inventory optimization.

The role is primarily Monday - Friday, dayshift. Some midshift (1000-1830) may be staffed as well.Our Certified Pharmacy Technician Senior colleagues support our mission in a variety of ways. Position Purpose: The Certified Pharmacy Technician Senior is an elevated collaborative role with pharmacy leadership. In addition to routine technician functions, Project Days are allotted to ensure development of our technician teams. The functions assigned to the Pyxis Shift Technician Senior role include implementation and training of staff in: Pyxis, Controlled Safe Inventory Management, BD Inventory Systems, controlled substance regulatory oversight assistance as well as staffing responsibilities.

Mount Carmel also offers an elevated Certified Pharmacy Tech Senior – Sterile Compounding compensation program for all sterile compounding trained technicians, regardless of prior experience. Following completion of our standardized training program, all signed off technicians will be approved for elevated compensation

What You Will Do:

  • Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture

  • Ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism

  • Assist our Technician Senior Team in maintaining performance standards for pharmacy staff

  • Following in depth, role specific training. Team responsibilities include:

  • Special projects as assigned by managers, assisting with purchasing, developing staffing patterns and assignments for other technicians, prioritizing work responsibilities, and precepting/training newly hired technicians.

  • Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots

  • Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on our patient care units

  • Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system

  • Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation, storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team

  • Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units

  • Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent

  • Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or previous relevant pharmacy technician experience is required. Greater than 3 years' experience is preferred, with a background in either USP 795/Non-Sterile Compounding, USP 797/Sterile Compounding or Pyxis
