In Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions, we design and manufacture state-of-the-art systems and technology that enable our customers to execute their precision strike missions.

BAE Systems is looking for a Software Engineer with engineering experience and a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading GPS products. Our team needs engineers interested in architecting, designing, developing and verifying software for real-time embedded GPS receivers for military airborne, ground and weapons applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and receiver architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team effort to develop our Modernized GPS receiver products.

As a part of this team, you will have responsibilities spanning all phases of the software engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, code development, integration, verification, and documentation. Assignments may include tasks such as:

  • Designing and writing GPS receiver source code across our product line of hardware form factors

  • Debugging or modifying existing code to add new features or correct defects

  • Ensuring execution of the software engineering process across the development life cycle

  • Estimation, planning and prioritization of tasks to meet program deadlines

  • Reporting on project status and progress measured against specific plans

  • Developing host applications and tools to interface and test products

  • Supporting in the field integrations and demonstration efforts

  • Putting our customer first through customer support activities

  • Expanding our knowledge base together through mentorship and training opportunities.

The successful applicant should be knowledgeable and skilled with a variety of development and test tools as well as proficient in the development of embedded hardware/software applications.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline, and 2 plus years of direct related experience

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Have the ability to obtain a DoW Security Clearance

  • High motivation to solve problems and continuously improve existing products

  • A genuine desire to learn and innovate

  • Desire to contribute to a results-oriented product development team

  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills

  • Ability to work well with a diverse team

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience designing and implementing complex algorithms requiring strict timing, systems resource managed, and interface constraints

  • A working knowledge of Communication Systems, Digital Signal Processing, or Kalman Filter Theory

  • Experience leading small software development teams and ensuring work is completed in accordance with design and development processes

  • Experience with modernized software development processes (e.g. Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps)

  • Experience with software development tools such as Eclipse, Visual Studio, Subversion, Git, Jira, Confluence, or Bamboo.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
