Full job description
Adult Literacy/GED Preparation Teacher - Full Time
Duties: Duties include direct instruction, testing/assessment, maintaining accurate record keeping and accountability for student achievement and retention. Seeking candidates with experience teaching or supervising adults and out-of-school youth, with the ability to work with a diverse population to deliver basic academic skill instruction as well as high school equivalency preparation; comfortable teaching adults and out-of-school youth who may have learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviors. Candidates must be self-disciplined and able to work independently. Position requires 14 hours of RAEN sponsored professional development annually.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education and/or Special Education preferred; NYS Teacher Certification preferred. Those without certification must be eligible for Adult Education Certification. Teaching experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills a plus.
Location of Position: BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education, Utica ACCESS Site, 508 Second Street, Utica, New York 13501
Term of Employment: 12-month position (37.5 - 40 hours per week)
Salary: $26.00 - $30.00/hour + benefits (Depending on education and experience)
