Job Description

A leading global hotel company is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join its growing Data Platform Architecture team. This individual will help design and build enterprise-scale cloud data solutions that support analytics, automation, and data-driven decision making across the organization. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated AWS expert who is passionate about innovation, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional user experiences.

  • Partner with data engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver enterprise data platform capabilities for a leading global hotel company.
  • Design, develop, and implement enterprise data solutions aligned with architecture standards and strategic technology objectives.
  • Build and enhance cloud-based data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
  • Develop scalable, resilient, high-performing, and secure data infrastructure and applications within AWS.
  • Implement and optimize data migration, data integration, and machine learning pipelines.
  • Establish and maintain IAM roles, policies, and security controls across cloud environments.
  • Automate deployment processes for AWS services, data applications, and BI platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend cloud solutions, architecture patterns, and tools that improve platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and migration teams to define cloud strategy and technology roadmaps.
  • Prototype and implement new technologies related to automation, scripting, containerization, and cloud-native services.
  • Support project planning, solution implementation, and ongoing operational improvements across multiple initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to ensure solutions align with enterprise target-state architecture.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive continuous improvement of platform reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and serve as a trusted advisor for cloud data platform solutions

Skills and Requirements

  • • Very Strong experience using Snowflake native pipelines, Snowflake native app including Streamlet, Python based Container services.
  • Experience using AI, including Snowflake Cortex AI capabilities.
  • Good knowledge in application and backend API development using object-oriented programming (Python, Java, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript).
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, business intelligence, analytics, or related technical disciplines.
  • 4+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience, including architecture, implementation, administration, and best practices.
  • Strong expertise with AWS services including S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Kinesis, EMR, Step Functions, VPC, IAM, Security Groups, and Data Pipelines.
  • Experience designing and building enterprise-scale cloud data platforms and analytical solutions.
  • Experience with modern data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or similar platforms.
  • Strong database and programming experience with SQL, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and data platforms.
  • Experience implementing data migration solutions, data delivery frameworks, and machine learning pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of IAM roles, policies, cloud security, and access management.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience configuring cloud monitoring, alerting, and operational support for AWS environments.
  • Strong scripting skills using Python and/or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of enterprise application architecture, security requirements, and cloud-native best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale streaming platforms such as Kafka.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS Fargate, or other containerization technologies.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and Linux-based application environments.
  • Experience with cloud networking, security groups, policy management, and multi-OS cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience planning and executing on-premises to AWS cloud migrations.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working in highly dynamic, ambiguous, and rapidly evolving enterprise environments.
  • Passion for emerging technologies, cloud innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Local to Chicago, happy to come in 2-3 days per week
