Full job description

Discovery Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Community Service Worker (SCSW) to join our dynamic team as an onsite/in-person instructor in our Surrey Campus.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about educating and mentoring future social service professionals. This position involves teaching a variety of subjects within the SCSW program, including Communication (Interpersonal), Personal Growth , Lifespan Development, Mental Health, Supportive Care, Personal Care and Professional Growth.

Position Title: Social & Community Service Worker (SCSW) Program Instructor

Wage Range: $31–$33 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Start Date : September 22, 2026

Work Schedule: Tuesday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. plus 2 hours of office hours each week.

Deliver in-person (on-site) will instruct courses in the SSW program within the guidelines, and using the curriculum and mentoring provided by the college.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have:

  • Certificate related to community support work

AND

  • 24 months of related occupational experience

OR

  • 10 years of related occupational experience

Previous teaching experience would be an asset, and good computer knowledge (Excel, Microsoft Teams etc) would be essential.
