Trauma data is far more than documentation. It is the foundation for performance improvement, trauma center excellence, regulatory compliance, and better patient outcomes. As a Trauma Registrar at UVA Health, you will play a critical role in capturing and maintaining the data that helps drive clinical decision-making and supports one of Virginia’s leading academic health systems.
This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to work with a dedicated trauma program while building expertise in trauma registry operations, clinical data abstraction, and quality reporting. The Role
As a Trauma Registrar, you will be responsible for collecting, abstracting, validating, and maintaining trauma registry data to support quality initiatives, accreditation requirements, and program reporting. Working independently while collaborating closely with trauma program leadership and fellow registrars, you will help ensure the integrity and accuracy of information that informs patient care and trauma system performance.
In a typical day, you will:

Abstract clinical information from the electronic medical record and enter data into the trauma registry.

Review patient records for completeness and accuracy while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Apply trauma registry guidelines, coding methodologies, and established abstraction practices.

Perform concurrent and retrospective case review to support timely registry completion.

Validate data and identify discrepancies that could impact reporting quality or compliance.

Assist with trauma program reporting needs and regulatory data submissions.

Identify potential quality concerns and communicate findings to the appropriate team members.

Collaborate with trauma program staff, clinical teams, and registry colleagues to ensure data consistency.

Participate in data quality initiatives and process improvement efforts.

Support the overall mission of maintaining a high-performing trauma registry that contributes to improved patient outcomes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School or Equivalent Required.
Experience: 1+ years of Relevant Experience Required.
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The pay range for this role is $18.37 - $36.74 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
