Overview

The Field Supervisor provides front-line leadership for taxi dispatch operations at JFK Airport, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of passengers and taxicabs while delivering a high level of customer service. This position supervises Taxi Dispatchers, monitors daily operations, addresses customer and driver concerns, and ensures compliance with airport, company, and Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) requirements.

Pay: $29.39/hr

The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide daily direction to Taxi Dispatchers and assigned staff.

  • Conduct shift roll calls, attendance and safety checks, staffing assignments, and operational briefings.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained at assigned posts.

  • Train and coach new and existing employees on procedures, safety, customer service, and applicable regulations.

  • Maintain an orderly and efficient flow of passengers and taxicabs, including taxi queues, staging, and loading areas.

  • Assist customers with taxi procedures, fares, meter rates, and transportation-related questions.

  • Monitor terminals, taxi stands, and holding areas for unsafe, suspicious, or unauthorized activity.

  • Prevent unauthorized customer solicitation and address violations according to established procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of and enforce applicable NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) rules and regulations.

  • Work cooperatively with Port Authority Police, airport personnel, TLC representatives, and other authorized agencies.

  • Respond to operational issues, customer concerns, employee matters, accidents, and safety incidents.

  • Complete required shift reports, operational logs, incident reports, and accident/injury documentation.

  • Drive company vehicles between terminals and other airport locations as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory, lead, dispatch, transportation, airport operations, customer service, or similar operational experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate reports and documentation.

  • Ability to use tablets, two-way radios, and other operational equipment.

  • Valid driver's license required to operate company vehicles.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or overnight shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.

  • Ability to climb stairs and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds .

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to safely perform routine and emergency duties requiring moderate physical activity.
