Full job description
Description We are looking for a litigation attorney to join a growing firm and contribute to a demanding defense practice. This role offers the opportunity to manage substantial litigation matters, shape case strategy, and advocate through all phases of the legal process. The ideal candidate brings strong courtroom judgment, excellent legal writing skills, and the ability to move cases forward efficiently while partnering closely with clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities:

Lead defense litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, including discovery, depositions, mediation, hearings, and trial preparation.

Create case strategies by evaluating exposure, liability, damages, and procedural risks in complex disputes.

Conduct and defend depositions involving parties, expert witnesses, and other critical participants in the litigation process.

Prepare persuasive pleadings, briefs, and substantive motions addressing intricate factual records and legal arguments.

Represent clients in state and federal court for hearings, motion arguments, conferences, and other key proceedings.

Coordinate with fellow attorneys, outside experts, and claims stakeholders to strengthen case development and support favorable outcomes.

Maintain consistent communication with clients while managing deadlines, priorities, and next steps across multiple active matters. Requirements • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Active membership in the State Bar of Michigan.

At least 3 years of experience working on complex litigation matters.

Demonstrated ability in deposition practice, motion drafting, briefing, and trial preparation.

Strong background in civil litigation and discovery management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and effectively.

Proven analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to handle a demanding caseload with independence and professionalism.
