Organization: SHSO-Sutter Health System Office-Bay Position Overview: Join Sutter’s Center for Applied AI to design and lead end-to-end AI solutions from concept to production across clinical, operational, and enterprise workflows. Partner with product, data science, engineering, cloud platform team, and clinical stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable architectures, covering data pipelines, model development/selection, ML Ops, governance, and integration with electronic health record and cloud platforms. Establish standards for safety, reliability, and observability (monitoring, drift, bias, and performance), and guide build-vs-buy decisions and vendor integrations. Create reference architectures, and ensure solutions deliver measurable improvements in outcomes, efficiency, and user experience. Job Description: Please Note: While this position is listed as hybrid, regular in-office attendance is required. Candidates should be prepared to commute to the San Francisco office on a consistent basis to support team collaboration and business needs.

EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years of recent relevant experience.

PREFRRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Core Epic Certification

  • EpicCare Ambulatory

  • EpicCare Inpatient (Clinical Documentation and/or Procedure Orders)

  • Major Epic Certification

  • Healthy Planet

  • Optime/Anesthesia

  • Resolute Professional Billing

  • Resolute Hospital Billing

  • ASAP

  • Radiant

  • Experience building and deploying Epic released AI features, predictive models, or advanced workflow solutions within Epic strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across application teams, informatics, operations, and clinical stakeholders.

  • Working knowledge of generative AI, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted workflow design.

  • Ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions using Epic and emerging AI capabilities.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced knowledge in formulating state-of-the-art enterprise strategic architecture framework plans.

  • Advanced knowledge in the engineering, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of a wide range of server and storage platforms.

  • Expert knowledge of visualization technologies.

  • Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.

  • Analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures in order to identify patterns, tendencies, and relationships resulting in the formulation of logical and objective conclusions.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with audiences across all areas and levels within Sutter Health as well as external organizations.

  • Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as: executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

  • Skilled in developing documentation at a technical and user level.

Pay Range is $163,425.60 to $245,148.80 / annual salary The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
