JOB SUMMARY:
This Property Tax Accountant position is responsible for managing all aspects of the property tax lifecycle for multiple business units with diverse operations. Key responsibilities include preparing and filing state and local property tax returns, reviewing assessments and identifying appeal opportunities, conducting tax research, ensuring compliance with applicable property tax laws and regulations, and responding to taxing authority inquiries. The role also supports financial reporting through the preparation of budgets, accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations, while ensuring the timely payment of property tax liabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members to enhance compliance, support continuous process improvement initiatives, standardize procedures, and implement best practices. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical professional with a passion for leveraging AI, automation, and other emerging technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall team effectiveness.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree required; Business, Accounting or Finance preferred

MS Excel – advanced proficiency

MS Word – intermediate proficiency
-
Experience with tax research software
-
Time management skills
-
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment

2+ years Property tax experience or general accounting in a large accounting firm or large public company environment required

Experience working in the public utility or energy industries
-
Ideal candidate will have experience in process improvement, technology, and automation.

Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and budget forecasting
