Mechanical Design Engineer
Blauvelt, NY
1st Shift | 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM Start Time
Contract Position (3+ Months with Strong Extension Potential)
$38.46 - $43.27/hour
About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency water heating systems, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation water heater products. This role will focus on designing and refining mechanical components, including heat exchanger concepts, while working in a fast-paced product development environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer with SolidWorks experience who is looking to gain hands-on manufacturing and product development experience. The client has a long history of extending and converting successful consultants into long-term opportunities.
Key Responsibilities

Develop mechanical designs for water heaters and related components to support new product development initiatives.

Create, modify, and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

Manage design revisions and engineering documentation within SolidWorks PDM.
-
Design and optimize sheet metal components and assemblies.
-
Execute multiple design concepts simultaneously to support aggressive project timelines.

Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure designs align with technical and business objectives.
-
Support design reviews by preparing drawings, models, and technical documentation.
-
Incorporate testing results and engineering feedback into ongoing design improvements.

Follow engineering standards, best practices, and internal development processes.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.

3+ years of mechanical design experience.

Proficiency with SolidWorks, including:

Parts
-
Assemblies
-
Detailed Drawings
-
Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

Experience designing sheet metal components and assemblies.

Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with SolidWorks PDM.

Experience working with large assemblies and configurations.

Manufacturing or product development experience.
-
Familiarity with fasteners and mechanical component design.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Work Environment

Onsite role located in Blauvelt, NY.
-
First shift schedule with a start time of 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM.

Reports directly to the Director of R&D.

Collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment focused on innovation and product development.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
