Network Engineer / Technical Training LeadPosition Summary
-
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer / Technical Training Lead to lead complex network implementation projects while driving technical excellence across the engineering organization. This role combines advanced network engineering expertise with training, mentoring, and knowledge development responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Cisco networking technologies, enterprise WAN environments, and routing protocols, while also demonstrating a passion for developing technical teams through structured training programs, documentation, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead end-to-end network implementations, including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and cutover activities.
-
Collaborate with domestic and international customers to deliver reliable and scalable network solutions.
-
Configure, deploy, and support Cisco routers and switches within complex production WAN environments.
-
Design and implement routing solutions utilizing BGP, OSPF, MPLS, NAT, VPN, and other core networking technologies.
-
Develop router configurations using standardized templates and best practices.
-
Troubleshoot complex network and application issues through packet capture analysis, system logs, and performance monitoring tools.
-
Provide technical leadership during escalations and serve as a subject matter expert for network-related issues.

Mentor and coach junior engineers to enhance technical capability and operational consistency.

Create, design, and maintain technical training curriculum, instructional materials, and engineering documentation.

Deliver technical training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives across global teams.

Support continuous improvement efforts related to network operations, standards, and engineering processes.

Contribute to the growth and consistency of global network operations.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related field.

Minimum of:
-
8 years of relevant professional experience; or
-
5 years of related experience with an advanced degree.

5+ years of hands-on experience configuring and supporting Cisco routers and switches in a production WAN environment.
-
Demonstrated expertise in routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
-
Experience implementing enterprise or service provider WAN connectivity solutions.
-
Experience creating, designing, and implementing technical training programs and curriculum.
-
Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical teams, or delivering technical training.
-
Strong knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network architecture.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-
CCNA and CCNP certification strongly preferred.
-
Experience diagnosing complex network and application performance issues through packet capture analysis.
-
Experience developing structured technical documentation and operational procedures.
-
Experience supporting global network environments and international customers.

Experience in large-scale enterprise or service provider networking environments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
