We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Unix Administration & Backup/Storage Platform Engineer to lead and manage enterprise Unix/Linux, Backup, Storage, and Recovery platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for platform stability, automation, recovery readiness, storage operations, and infrastructure resiliency across hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Unix/Linux Administration, Commvault, NetApp, IBM Storage, Nutanix, and cloud-native backup and recovery solutions in Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Key Responsibilities

Unix / Linux Administration (Primary Focus)
-
Own and manage enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
-
Administer, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot Linux platforms.
-
Lead OS lifecycle management, security compliance, vulnerability remediation, and performance tuning activities.
-
Develop and maintain standard OS builds, automation, and configuration management processes.
-
Support application onboarding, middleware integration, and infrastructure services running on Linux platforms.
-
Troubleshoot complex operating system, performance, networking, storage, and application-related issues.
-
Drive automation using Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
-
Partner with Security, Application, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams to ensure platform resiliency and operational excellence.

Backup & Storage Administration
-
Own and manage enterprise Backup & Storage platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
-
Serve as the primary SME for backup, recovery, replication, storage, and disaster recovery technologies.
-
Design, implement, administer, and support backup, recovery, storage, replication, and business continuity solutions.
-
Manage and support Commvault Backup & Recovery, including administration, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, optimization, and recovery operations.
-
Administer enterprise storage platforms including NetApp and IBM Storage.
-
Support and manage Nutanix infrastructure and virtualization platforms.
-
Implement and optimize Azure Native Backup and GCP Backup & Recovery solutions.
-
Define and manage backup policies, retention policies, storage lifecycle management, governance, compliance, and disaster recovery standards.
-
Perform storage architecture reviews, capacity planning, performance analysis, optimization, and technology refresh initiatives.

Lead backup restore testing, disaster recovery exercises, and business continuity validation activities.

Support backup and recovery operations for enterprise databases including Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, and MongoDB.

Troubleshoot complex backup, storage, replication, and recovery issues across hybrid cloud environments.
Required Skills & Experience
-
8+ years of experience in Unix/Linux Administration, Storage, Backup, and Infrastructure Operations.
-
Strong hands-on Linux administration experience in enterprise environments.
-
Experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Unix/Linux platforms, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and automation.
-
Strong expertise with Commvault Backup & Recovery.
-
Experience administering NetApp and IBM Storage platforms.
-
Experience supporting Nutanix infrastructure and virtualization environments.
-
Hands-on experience with Azure Backup and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Backup & Recovery services.
-
Strong understanding of storage technologies, backup strategies, retention management, replication, deduplication, ransomware protection, and disaster recovery.
-
Experience supporting enterprise databases including Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, and MongoDB.
-
Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning, infrastructure operations, and platform lifecycle management.
-
Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and major incident resolution efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Shell Scripting, Python, or PowerShell.

Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments across Azure and GCP.
-
Cloud certifications in Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
-
Commvault, NetApp, Nutanix, Linux, or Storage-related certifications.

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure platforms.
