Full job description

The Michigan Civil Service Commission is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional who values exceptional customer service and thrives in a dynamic Human Resources environment. This role offers the opportunity to expand your Human Resources (HR) expertise, work collaboratively across the organization, and contribute meaningfully to a mission-driven team. We’re looking for candidates who bring:

  • A strong understanding of confidentiality and established HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships at all organizational levels.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting team success. As a Human Resources Generalist supporting the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, you will play a key role in advancing the agency’s mission. You will represent the department in matters such as labor relations and classification and selection activities, partnering closely with leadership and employees. In this position, you’ll help ensure the consistent application of policies, rules, and regulations, promote equitable practices, and contribute to a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment.

This is a hybrid position that allows for opportunities for remote work. This is subject to change based on the needs of this position.

This position generally requires the education acquired through the possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
