Permanent Electronics Technician 4 (ET4) Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC)
The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to fill a full-time permanent Electronics Technician 4 position at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in the future. Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri-Cities. CRCC is comprised of two-complexes. The Medium Security Complex (MSC) is a 2,048 bed facility that houses Incarcerated Individuals (I/I) with Medium and MI3 Custody. MSC consists of 4 Hybrid units and 4 Medium units. The Minimum Security Unit (MSU) is a 480 bed facility that houses assisted living and MI2 Custody I/I. MSU consists of 2 units. This is a work/program orientated facility that offers many educational, vocational, and self-help programs and Class II and Class III Correctional Industries work programs.

Duties: The Electronics Technician 4 at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) reports to the Electronics Supervisor and installs, maintains, tests and repairs the limited energy electronic systems throughout the institution and instructs personnel in the proper operation and care of that equipment. By providing these technical services to the facility, the Electronics Technician 4 ensures that safety, security, vigilance and communications systems are readily available and functional for custody and support staff and ensures that the safety and security systems for incarcerated individuals are properly maintained. The Electronics Technician 4 supports the living conditions at CRCC, the mission of the department, and provides support for public safety.
Tasks Include (but are not limited to):• Maintenance and repair of electronic systems.

Provide maintenance support, parts replacement and administration for the following systems:• Security Electronics Network (SEN)

Motorola radio system with mobile and portable radios

Fire alarm system

Electronic door controls and indication

Video security cameras (Genetec)

Harding intercom systems
-
HID controlled access points
-
Perimeter fence detection system

Data and telecommunication infrastructure

Satellite/Cable T.V. system

Electronics Benchwork

Backup support for door access administration

Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) maintenance

Projects/documentation/communication:• Facilitate assigned projects through clear communication with supervisors and vendors on project/task status, delays, impacts on the facility and security concerns

Research for new projects and upgrades to existing systems
-
Order parts and equipment compliant to current industry standards
-
Document work activities and update schematics and diagrams
-
Communicate with supervisors, customers and vendors on needed upgrades, repair status, delays and other concerns of open service requests
-
Preventative Maintenance:• Daily review of perimeter fence detection system, security cameras and T.V. channel integrity

Cleaning and/or replacement of smoke detectors and other devices within the fire alarm system
-
Annual and semi-annual inspections of fire detection and alarm equipment and fire extinguishers
-
Required inspections of the Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) of Security Electronic Network (SEN) and Life Safety Devices

Ordering and maintaining essential parts inventory

Other duties as assigned by supervisors such as snow removal, assisting Locksmiths with troubleshooting doors, and assisting HVAC techs with controls troubleshooting
Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Washington State Drivers License
- Ability to obtain NICET Certification within two (2) years of employment (training provided)
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:• EL06 Electrical License
- NICET I and II certifications
- Two (2) or more years' experience in security electronics
OR • Degree in Electronics Technology
- Experience in computer-based technology such as analyzing, designing, installing, programming, and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, and/or network infrastructure equipment

Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire. Telework Details This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
