Full job description

This position will facilitate recreation activities; assist with program operations and be responsible for safety, effectiveness, and quality of activities. The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Provides direction, training, guidance and assistance to employees; coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work, inspects completed work, and troubleshoots problem situations. Oversees staff compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations,

Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees, program participants, and other individuals

Plans, organizes, conducts, and supervises various athletic and recreational programs and facilities, seasonal and part-time employees, activities, and events for the community in general or for a specific segment of the community at various parks and facilities.

Assist in preparing seasonal brochure information; assists customers with program registration.

Assists with events and facility reservations; schedules activities and rentals to avoid conflicts with other scheduled events.

Prepares reports as requested on staff and program performance

Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, referrals, policies, procedures, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.

Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.

Communicate with supervisors, employees, instructors, program registrants/participants, parents, vendors, the public, community organizations, outside organizations, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing or other computer programs.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position that is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.

Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation.

Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.

Performs other related duties as required. High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess or acquire a valid First Aid/CPR certification within six (6) months of hire. One (1) year previous experience working with youth in a camp, educational or program setting. Must possess organizational skills; be enthusiastic, adaptable, dependable and responsible. Must possess and maintain a GA driver’s license. A bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education or related field is preferred.
