Medical Assistant – Contract
Location: Bedford, TX
Pay Rate: $ 24.34/hour
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Dates: August 31, 2026 – December 4, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Interview: In-person
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant (MA) to support a busy clinical team in Bedford, TX. The Medical Assistant will provide hands-on clinical and administrative support, including patient rooming, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, EKGs, medication administration, documentation, and exam-room preparation.
Key Responsibilities

Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.

Obtain and accurately document patient information and care in the medical record.

Perform duties within the scope of Medical Assistant practice.

Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary techniques .
-
Perform EKGs and other basic diagnostic procedures.
-
Operate diagnostic equipment as directed; interpretation of tests is not required .

Perform simple specimen collection using non-invasive techniques.
-
Change wound dressings, obtain cultures, and remove staples from superficial wounds as directed.

Administer approved non-intravenous medications within scope of practice.

Perform quality-control checks on clinical equipment.

Prepare, clean, and sterilize medical equipment using an autoclave.

Organize, stock, and maintain exam and treatment rooms.

Follow standard infection-control precautions and patient-safety procedures.

Provide telephone and in-person patient intake and information gathering within the defined scope of practice.

Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians and established policies.

Maintain patient confidentiality and provide courteous, professional service.

Follow Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and applicable clinical procedures.

Perform other related Medical Assistant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
-
Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification , or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment.

Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at hire or within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge of medical terminology.
-
Basic computer literacy and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills .
-
Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

Strong communication, professionalism, and customer service skills.

Ability to meet required healthcare screenings and immunization/immune-status documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
-
1+ year of Medical Assistant experience.
-
Experience with phlebotomy strongly preferred.
-
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Schedule & Work Environment

Monday–Friday

8:00 AM–5:00 PM

No travel required.

No patient-home visits.

Work is performed at a single clinical location.

Dress Code: Navy blue or gray scrubs.

$24.34 per hour
