Location: Erie 1 BOCES Special Education E1B Education Campus West Seneca, NY

Assignment: Itinerant

Annual Salary: $48,484 +$ 2,000 w/Masters Degree $ 50,484

Hours: 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM

Job Responsibilities: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for servicing students based on their IEP OT needs. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, manage a caseload of students, travel may be required. Work with the educational team, complete IEPS in preparation for student Annual Reviews, complete evaluations and complete paperwork as required. Specific Duties:

  1. Evaluates physical, psycho-social and perceptual dysfunction of referred students.

  2. Plans, administers, and supervises treatment procedures.

  3. Develops assistive devices and self-help techniques.

  4. Coordinates occupational therapy with other student services concerned with restoration and maintenance of the student's optimum level of ability.

  5. Keeps accurate records of treatment and makes written reports on the student's progress for the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  6. Consults with classroom teacher regarding specific needs.

  7. Supervises Certified Occupational Therapists as assigned.

  8. Maintains OT equipment.

  9. Maintains and completes departmental paperwork.

  10. Other related duties as directed by the Special Education Supervisor.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:

Must hold permanent status as an Occupational Therapist; or; Must be reachable on the current Occupational Therapist Civil Service list; or; Must meet minimum qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college with a major in Occupational Therapy, or;

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college with a bachelors degree in any field and completion of an approved post-graduate program in Occupational Therapy

REQUIRED: Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association and licensed by NYS required

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have received a canvass letter from Erie 1 BOCES for OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST # 42-105.
