Full job description

This posting is for a full-time, unclassified, in-person, on-site staff position for our Bossier campus. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.

  • Five (5) or more years of industry-based experience in the building construction trades, general building maintenance, or in the repair or maintenance of mechanical equipment. Electrical journeyman’s license preferred.
  • Proven leadership, communication, team building and problem-solving skills needed.
  • Must have worked in a maintenance industry-based environment with some electrical and trade background.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and have the ability to train on Banner system.
  • Be self- motivated.
  • Valid Louisiana Driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, and handle or feel objects and controls. Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, coper, and fax machine. Must be capable of standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling within the scope of assigned duties. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to maintain focus. May be occasionally required to drive a motor vehicle locally and out of town. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. To perform the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. To perform general repairs to buildings, interior and exterior. To assist in supervising the outsourcing of janitorial services. Duties to include, but not limited to: 50% Maintenance

  • Manage the maintenance work order system daily/weekly
  • Participate and provide oversight in the execution of facility operations and improvements for all buildings, structures, grounds and utilities
  • Provide support on a regular basis to the facility service groups that are contracted to maintain the site
  • Assist in managing the set-up of logistics for meetings, registration and orientations
  • Communicate and maintain strong customer service relationships with the faculty and staff ensuring timely correction of deficiencies/repairs to their areas are completed
  • Perform Maintenance and repair of plumbing system as required
  • Manage the vehicle maintenance/records keeping (oil change, gas for vehicles)
  • Manage the preventive maintenance of equipment and record keeping (boilers and electrical)
  • Supervise the maintenance repairer 1 position to include supervising work, annual planning/evaluation and approving time worked for payroll.
  • Assist with the monitoring of contractor production and quality of work
  • Schedule minor repairs to buildings, facilities, grounds, and light equipment/appliances and other related facilities jobs that can be done without calling a contractor for all three campuses (replacing light bulbs and ballasts, ceiling tiles, plumbing jobs, electrical fixes, etc..)
  • Follow up and report on all facility activities
  • Travel to Natchitoches and Sabine Valley Campuses as needed to perform maintenance and make improvements as necessary.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

40% Electrical

  • To maintain and install electrical systems primarily 480 volts and under for all three campuses.
  • Installs, alters, maintains and repairs wiring systems, emergency lights, exit lights, floodlights and other electrical fixtures and equipment.
  • Make inspections to determine the need for repair and to estimate repair costs.
  • Assigns and inspects the work of electrician when needed.
  • Makes inspections of electrical equipment and appliances. Schedules, performs, and documents preventive maintenance in accordance with equipment management programs.
  • Reads and interprets electrical blueprints.
  • Uses standard tools such as volt meters, amp meters, watt meters, and related equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems and operate various types of electrician’s electrical systems.
  • Installs and makes repairs on nonmetallic cables such as Romex, conduits, and thin wall or rigid conduit.

10% Custodial Services

  • Assists with supervising the outsourcing of janitorial services.
  • Inspects the performance of the cleaning and reports the outcome to lead supervisor of the janitorial contractors.
