Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Manufacturing Coordinator to join one of our large manufacturing clients in the Richmond VA market. This individual will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by coordinating materials, production planning, product specifications, and scheduling activities to ensure efficient plant execution. The Manufacturing Coordinator will serve as a key liaison between suppliers, production teams, and management, helping to translate customer requirements into actionable manufacturing plans and maintaining the resources needed to keep production running smoothly.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure materials, production components, and artwork specifications required for customer orders.
- Manage cylinder inventory for printing and production operations, including coordinating cylinder manufacturing, re-chroming, repairs, and delivery schedules to meet production timelines.
- Create and maintain job folders, job manuals, and production documentation that serve as the operational blueprint for manufacturing teams.
- Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring all product specifications and material requirements are accurate and up to date.
- Input and maintain ink formulations, color specifications, and product recipes required for manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate color matching, samples, and production standards to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Services Manager to develop and execute weekly production schedules based on project priorities and plant capacity.
- Support production planning by determining required materials, cylinders, inks, and documentation needed before jobs are released to the manufacturing floor.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for cylinders, production materials, and other critical resources to prevent operational delays.
- Track workforce scheduling considerations, including vacations, overtime, shift trades, and employee movement within a unionized environment.
- Communicate regularly with production, scheduling, and management teams to ensure manufacturing activities remain aligned with customer demand and plant objectives.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support operational efficiency, quality standards, and production readiness.
Skills and Requirements
- Min 1 year experience in Manufacturing related environment, manufacturing coordination, production planning, scheduling, or operations support
- Basic MS Excel skills
- Client facing communication skills
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and process execution
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
- Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), production documentation, or manufacturing work orders
- Experience in a printing, packaging, converting, or other process manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with inventory management, production scheduling, and procurement activities
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of color matching, ink formulations, or manufacturing recipes/process specifications
