Description
The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces.
The Office of Industry and Apprenticeship Services (OIAS) is part of the Education and Labor Cabinet and assists Kentucky businesses with recruitment efforts, assessments of employment needs, work-based training, apprenticeship programs, tax credit assistance and much more.
OIAS is searching for an Administrative Specialist Senior to provide high-level professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership. Perform duties in the oversight of intricate processes such as activities involving mandated regulations and procedures, comprehensive research, or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Job duties:

Coordinates employer requests and assists management with assigning projects to Workforce Talent Project Managers – monitors project activity and ensures timely follow-up

Coordinates scheduling for employer and partner meetings, travel, division activates and other events. Maintains calendars, travel documentation and related records

Maintains databases and division records; prepares recurring and ad hoc reports

Develops, updates and maintains standard operating procedures, administrative workflows, forms and other materials to support efficient and consistent division operations

Responds to employer and stakeholder inquiries and coordinates referrals to appropriate workforce partners

Provides administrative and logistical support for Statewide Workforce and Talent Team, apprenticeship initiatives, Rapid Response activities and other division programs, projects, meetings and special initiatives

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
