Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Automation Engineer for a leading enterprise financial software client. This highly visible individual contributor will join a QA & Standards organization that is actively modernizing its automation landscape by migrating from Selenium WebDriver to Playwright across a large-scale SaaS platform serving more than 1,200 global customers. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in test automation architecture, Playwright implementation, C# development, API testing, and Azure DevOps CI/CD practices. This engineer will play a key role in evaluating existing automation assets, rebuilding frameworks where necessary, expanding test coverage, and establishing Playwright standards that will be adopted across the broader QA organization. Candidates with a strong automation modernization background, AI-assisted development experience, and a passion for building scalable, maintainable testing solutions will thrive in this environment

Skills and Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of software quality engineering or automation engineering experience in enterprise SaaS environments

  • Direct, hands-on experience migrating or rebuilding automation frameworks from Selenium WebDriver to Playwright (primary requirement)

  • Strong proficiency in C#

  • Hands-on experience with .NET testing frameworks including NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest

  • Extensive experience with both Selenium WebDriver and Playwright

  • Proven ability to build, maintain, port, and scale automated testing frameworks

  • Experience making automation framework decisions, defining standards, patterns, and best practices

  • Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate automation development, code migration, refactoring, and coverage analysis

  • Strong Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline experience for automated test execution and failure triage

  • Deep API testing expertise, including REST validation, authentication testing, contract validation, and edge-case coverage

  • Experience distinguishing legitimate defects from environmental or framework-related failures

  • Experience with JIRA and Xray for test management and defect tracking

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments as an embedded or matrixed automation engineer

  • Experience supporting globally distributed teams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Equity compensation, fintech, or regulated-industry experience

  • Equity plan administration domain knowledge

  • Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools

  • Oracle database experience and the ability to write SQL validation queries

  • Experience with Datadog or other observability and logging platforms

  • Performance and load-testing experience using k6, JMeter, Gatling, or similar tools

  • Familiarity with Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Functions, or related Azure-native services Experience with consumer-driven contract-testing frameworks such as Pact
