JOB TITLE: Distribution Process Analyst *REQUISITION:*DIS010D *DEPARTMENT:*Operations Standards – F&M Service Center, Topeka General Office or Wichita Operations Center LOCATION: Kansas City, MO Topeka, KS Wichita, KS PAY RANGE:(Min-Mid) Distribution Process Analyst I: $54,400 - $68,000 Distribution Process Analyst II: $66,600 - $83,200 Sr Distribution Process Analyst: $84,500 - $112,600 Lead Distribution Process Analyst: $99,500 - $132,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Job may require additional hours as required.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Process Analyst partners with stakeholders across the Operations organization to understand current business processes, identify improvement opportunities, facilitate collaboration, and support the successful implementation of process and technology initiatives with an emphasis on Distribution processes. This position documents and analyzes current-state operations, develops practical recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness, and supports sustainable business process management practices. The position also maintains process documentation, repositories, and documentation standards to improve consistency, transparency, efficiency, and operational performance.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Document, analyze, and maintain business processes, workflows, inputs, outputs, business rules, decision points, controls, and supporting materials across the Operations organization.
  • Develop clear current-state and future-state process maps, workflow diagrams, procedures, and related artifacts that accurately represent how work is performed.
  • Facilitate stakeholder interviews, workshops, process reviews, and working sessions to understand business needs, respectfully challenge assumptions, and build alignment.
  • Analyze process performance, operational data, and stakeholder feedback to identify trends, root causes, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, risks, process variation, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or support business process improvement initiatives by coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, evaluating alternatives, and developing actionable recommendations for business leaders and process owners.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, objective manner and help stakeholders evaluate operational impacts, risks, benefits, and implementation considerations.
  • Establish and maintain process repositories, documentation standards, and process management practices that support organizational knowledge retention and continuous improvement.
  • Support process governance by coordinating process ownership, periodic reviews, updates, lifecycle management, and retirement of obsolete documentation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned business processes and partner with change management, training, implementation, and business teams to support communication, adoption, and long-term sustainability of approved improvements.
  • Develop and monitor meaningful process measures and key performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness, measure results, and support data-driven decision-making.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Incumbents in this role will have progressive years of job-specific or related experience as outlined below. Related experience may include business process analysis, process improvement, business analysis, business or utility operations, operational leadership, operational excellence, project coordination or management, change implementation support, procedure or standards development, technology implementation and adoption, process ownership, governance, documentation, or other experience involving analysis, stakeholder engagement, operational decision-making, or organizational improvement.
  • Candidates with strong business or operational knowledge, demonstrated curiosity, and the ability to learn and apply formal process documentation and improvement practices may also be considered. Experience in utility operations, energy, infrastructure, or another operationally complex industry is beneficial but not required.

  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead discussions, workshops, process reviews, and cross-functional working sessions.

  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to perform root-cause analysis and develop practical recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and listening skills, including the ability to document complex processes and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, build consensus, and coordinate stakeholders with differing priorities.
  • Knowledge of business process mapping, workflow analysis, documentation, process governance, and continuous improvement concepts, or the ability to learn and apply these practices.
  • Ability to collect and analyze operational data, identify trends, develop process measures, quantify impacts, and evaluate improvement results.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and process documentation tools. Experience with Microsoft Visio or similar process-mapping software is beneficial.
  • Ability to progressively develop facilitation and leadership capabilities and, at advanced levels, independently lead complex process improvement initiatives and provide guidance on business process management practices.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Testing: Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Professional certifications related to business analysis, process improvement, project management, change management, or operational excellence are beneficial but not required.

Working Conditions: Office environment with both in-office and remote working conditions. Occasional travel may be required to support stakeholder meetings, process reviews, workshops, operational observations, training activities, and implementation efforts. The position will collaborate with remote and on-site teams across the Operations organization.
