Summary
About the Position: This position is located in San Antonio, Texas or Falls Church, Virginia Salary negotiation and/or Leave Accrual negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Serve as the technical/clinical expert for processing and auditing provider adverse action and adverse event management in the Healthcare Risk Management (HRM) Program.
- Maintain liaison with other Department of War, federal, and civilian agencies.
- Contribute to formulation of corporate policies and procedures regarding standards of care and medical malpractice criteria.
- Work with Medical Affairs executive leadership, Networks, and individual Medical Treatment Facilities to develop, implement, and evaluate the HRM Program and its functions for adverse actions/events frequently in a Joint Service environment.
- Track efficiency of the HRM process; recommend and implement procedural improvements.
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the review and analysis of medical malpractice claims, Active Duty (AD) death, AD disability, and clinical adverse action cases.
Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Requirement for GS-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing healthcare adverse events or clinical quality data, assisting with medical malpractice or risk management case evaluations, and compiling reports to support healthcare safety or compliance standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
