Charge Nurse Neuro Spine- Full Time, Nights
Status: Full Time
Shift: Third
About The Unit:
The twenty-four-bed Neuroscience unit offers specialized nursing assessment and care to patients with both neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Typical patients include those with a diagnosis of stroke, post-op craniotomy, post-op discectomy and other back surgeries, as well as post-cerebral embolization. Unit nursing care is complemented by the expertise of two Neuroscience Coordinators. New Graduate Nurses are welcome.
Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse is an entry-level management position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts.He/she will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care.
A) As a Registerednurse, he/she implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric)assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient's care within the parameters of the Kentucky NursePractice Act. The charge nurse promotes positive patient outcomes; quality of care and initiates change throughactive involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils.
B) National Professional NursingStandards serve as guidelines for the charge nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercisesappropriate nursing judgment. The charge nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patientoutcomes. Also, the charge nurse will serve as a role m odel by actively participating in the process of continuousprofessional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.
Requirements:
Active Kentucky RN License required.
Associate's degree in nursing required.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
