Job Description

Anduril's Expeditionary Systems (AES) team develops large-form-factor deployed systems that provide critical compute, communications, and mission capabilities for military operators in the field. Product lines include mobile data centers, SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities), launcher systems, and other ruggedized expeditionary platforms.

This Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, integration, prototyping, testing, and production support of complex electromechanical systems. The role is highly hands-on and will support hardware from concept through deployment while collaborating closely with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and production teams.

The ideal candidate is a mechanical engineering generalist with strong experience in welded structures, sheet metal, hardware integration, and large assemblies.

Key Responsibilities Own mechanical hardware throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development through deployment. Design large-scale expeditionary systems including: Mobile data centers SCIFs Launcher platforms Ruggedized military hardware Develop structural weldments, machined components, and integrated assemblies. Design mounting provisions and interfaces for sensors, electronics, and other hardware. Support integration of electrical and electromechanical systems into mechanical designs. Create CAD models, engineering drawings, and production documentation. Perform prototype builds and support first article development. Work directly with customers and end users to understand mission requirements. Partner with manufacturing teams to transition designs into production. Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and field support activities. Collaborate closely with: Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering Manufacturing Production Program teams Travel occasionally to field exercises and customer sites to support deployed products. Must be a U.S. Person. Ability to work onsite in Costa Mesa, CA.

Skills and Requirements

4-8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience. Experience designing, prototyping, and releasing hardware products. Strong design ownership and ability to drive projects independently. Experience with large assemblies and structural hardware. Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem solving. Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments. Technical Skills CAD proficiency (any major platform). Ability to create detailed engineering drawings. Experience designing: Weldments Sheet metal components Machined parts Experience integrating: Sensors Electronics Electromechanical components Hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes. Education AS, BS, MS, MEng, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Preferred Software Siemens NX Teamcenter SolidWorks CATIA Preferred Technical Experience Large welded structures and launcher systems. Hydraulic systems. Actuation systems. Mechanical integration of electronics. Sensor integration. HVAC system integration. Structural interface design. Bracket and mounting system design. ANSYS analysis: Static analysis Dynamic analysis Thermal analysis Manufacturing Experience Machining Sheet metal Weldments Composites 3D printing Defense / Industry Experience Military launcher systems.
