Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Program Quality Engineer Sr (IC3)

This position supports the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program and related hypersonic programs as a Senior level Quality Engineer. In this role, you will perform as a quality engineer within the rapidly growing Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) business. You will analyze processes and drive actions that reduce variation and improve consistency across engineering, procurement, production, and quality processes. You will establish the core quality assurance requirements and mission assurance plans on these missions or coach others on how to do so.

You will utilize Quality Engineering methods and leadership to evaluate and initiate actions to identify and control sources of variation detrimental to quality, cost, and schedule targets.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Lead root cause analysis and drive effective corrective action to improve processes

  • Analyze and generate quality metrics that might detect actionable trends in our processes

  • Develop core program mission assurance requirements and guide engineering counterparts to meet those requirements

  • Shape and lead process improvement strategy to drive continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with Engineering counterparts to review, edit, and approve drawings

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Quality to proactively shape our supply chain requirements and improve supplier performance

  • Travel up to 25% may be required

The individual in this role must have a strong commitment to process improvement and be capable of balancing multiple projects and priorities. You will be dedicated to the critical responsibility of doing “what’s right” for the product and our customers at all times. A continuous improvement mindset, focus on product quality, and the ability to work effectively with a team are key.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline (e.g., engineering field) or equivalent discipline (e.g., math, physics, chemistry, biology).

  • Possess ability to comprehend and interpret drawings, or work instructions, or specifications.

  • Ability to manage a project or lead process improvement

  • Demonstrates thorough attention to detail

  • Experienced leading or conducting Root Cause Analysis

  • Ability to obtain a Security clearance

Desired Skills

  • Green Belt Trained and certified

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  • Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality optimization in a production environment

  • Knowledge of PR/MRB process

  • Control Account Management (CAM) experience/certification

  • Proposal Experiece

  • Supplier Quality Experience

  • Experience with data analytics to report trends and achieve results

  • Resourceful self-starter possessing a learning orientation

  • Prior team lead or project lead experience

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Secret clearance

  • Ambitious high performer

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
