Special Education Head Teacher
Are you a passionate educator who loves helping students reach their full potential? We’re looking for a Special Education Head Teacher to join a collaborative school community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced educator who enjoys creating individualized learning experiences, building strong relationships with families, and working collaboratively with a dedicated team. You’ll lead a self-contained classroom and help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students can thrive.
Position Details
Salary: $72,000–$100,900 DOE (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:15 AM–3:30 PM
Employment Type: Exempt | 10-Month Agreement
Academic Calendar: 10-Month School Calendar
What You’ll Do

Create and implement engaging classroom activities that support students’ emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development.

Develop individualized instruction using a variety of teaching strategies, materials, and resources.

Assess and document student progress through formal and informal assessments, observations, and student work.

Develop weekly and daily lesson plans based on individual student needs and educational goals.

Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, portfolios, attendance, and parent communications.

Provide students with appropriate support during inclusion experiences.

Establish consistent classroom routines and positive behavior-management strategies.
-
Create a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom environment.
-
Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and outside professionals.
-
Collaborate with related-service providers and participate in weekly planning meetings.
-
Provide direction and support to assistant teachers, paraprofessionals, and related-service providers.
-
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, training, and professional growth activities.

Help prepare students for emergency procedures and maintain a safe school environment.
What We’re Looking For

Master’s Degree required
-
Current Teacher Certification required
-
Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred

Strong communication and collaboration skills
-
Ability to develop meaningful, individualized instruction

Commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and related-service professionals
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to safely navigate the school environment and have the ability to:
