Full job description

This position is responsible for state licensing of child care organizations including family and group child care homes and child care centers within a specified geographical area of the State. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, conducting state licensing inspections, investigate complaints, provider technical assistance and consultation to applicants/licensee, initiate enforcement action, testify in hearings, and consult with other professionals such as law enforcement, fire safety inspectors, and protective services representatives.

Position Description
This position generally requires possession of a master's degree in child development, elementary education, early childhood education, guidance and counseling, or social work, and two years of professional, post-bachelor’s degree experience licensing child day care homes or centers, child foster care homes or facilities, child care placing agencies, or related child care facilities; or as a child day care provider trainer; or an investigator of high risk child abuse or neglect cases, or as a professional child day care or preschool education worker or teacher in a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten to third grade program. Specific information on the education and experience required for the position is in the job specifications for the Child Day Care Consultant class. Please attach your resume, cover letter, and applicable bachelor's and master's official transcripts to your application. An official transcript must bear the college/university certification (e.g., seal, logo, watermark, and /or letterhead), Registrar's signature, and date. A transcript with these requirements, with the stamp "Issued to Student" is accepted as an official transcript. Unofficial transcripts will NOT be accepted. An unofficial transcript is: (1) an internet copy printed from the college/university student web account; (2) a transcript stamped with "Student Copy," and (3) a transcript that is labeled as "Unofficial." The official transcript must be scanned and attached to the electronic NEOGOV Civil Service application with one of the following file extensions: pdf, doc, docx, txt, or rft. Degree certificates are not accepted. When attaching transcripts, please name the college/university for each transcript attached.
