Purchasing Coordinator

Location: Sturtevant, WI

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift

Pay: Competitive; Based on Experience

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to support procurement and supply chain operations for a growing manufacturing and distribution organization in Sturtevant, WI. The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for processing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring materials and supplies are received on time to support operational needs. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, purchasing experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, process, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.

  • Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, order status, and delivery schedules.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, and procurement documentation.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to prevent stock shortages.

  • Work closely with production, warehouse, and supply chain teams to support operational requirements.

  • Resolve issues related to supplier shipments, invoice discrepancies, damaged materials, and order delays.

  • Review and reconcile purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for accuracy.

  • Assist with vendor sourcing, quote comparisons, and supplier evaluations.

  • Update ERP/MRP systems with purchasing data and order information.

  • Generate reports related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, and supplier performance.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain operations.

  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.

  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, customer service, or supply chain experience.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment preferred.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and vendor relationship management abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience processing high volumes of purchase orders.

  • Familiarity with inventory management and procurement best practices.

  • Exposure to systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP platforms.

  • APICS/ASCM coursework or certification is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chesterfield, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
