Job Description
This logistics and supply chain technology company is looking for a Director of Development / Software Engineering & Integration to join their team. This person will oversee the day-to-day execution of software development, integrations, business intelligence, QA, and release management initiatives while driving structure, process, and accountability across the engineering organization. They will own Jira administration and workflow management, ensure projects are properly documented in Confluence, and establish Agile best practices to improve delivery and team performance. The role will partner closely with the CIO, business stakeholders, and a Principal Engineer (Rich), who will focus on technology strategy and architecture, while this individual remains hands-on in directing execution, managing teams, and removing delivery roadblocks. They will also work with external implementation partners to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and according to established standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead software engineering, integrations, BI, QA, and release management teams.
Drive Agile delivery processes, sprint management, release planning, and workflow optimization.
Serve as the Jira subject matter expert, ensuring proper project tracking, prioritization, and accountability.
Build and maintain strong documentation standards using Confluence.
Manage, mentor, and hold engineering leaders and team members accountable for performance and delivery.
Partner with business stakeholders, vendors, and implementation partners to align technology initiatives with business goals.
Establish engineering KPIs, quality standards, and governance processes.
Support modernization efforts across legacy systems, integrations, and development practices.
Work alongside the Principal Engineer to translate technical strategy into successful execution.

Skills and Requirements
8+ years of software engineering leadership experience
5+ years managing software development teams
Strong expertise with Jira administration, workflow management, and delivery governance
Experience building structure, accountability, and documentation standards within engineering organizations
Documentation for this role is critical!!!
Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and improving software delivery processes
Microsoft technology stack experience (C#, .NET, SQL Server, Azure)
Experience implementing and enforcing engineering best practices, QA processes, CI/CD, and release management
Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching managers and engineers
Experience partnering with executive stakeholders and external vendors/consultants
Documentation-driven leader with strong Confluence experience Experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or supply chain environments
ERP/WMS integration experience (Dynamics AX, Datex, etc.)
iPaaS platform experience (Cleo, Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica)
Power BI and business intelligence experience
Experience modernizing legacy systems and platforms
Experience implementing AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
Prior experience scaling engineering operations and governance frameworks
