About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The EA Business Unit’s U.S. headquarters in Wendell, North Carolina, specializes in medium‑voltage power distribution equipment, including primary and secondary switchgear, controllers, contactors, circuit breakers, as well as OEM and replacement/retrofit solutions and services.

We are looking for a Quality Engineer. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

In this preventive quality role, you will help shape how quality is designed, measured, and sustained in an advanced, AI-enabled manufacturing environment. You will partner across functions to improve product and process conformity, reduce risk, strengthen customer focus, and verify that corrective actions deliver lasting results.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Champion customer-focused quality across assembly operations and translate requirements into practical quality plans, standards, and controls.

  • Lead production quality planning for new and existing lines, embedding quality into takt, flow, capacity, control plans, and process changes.

  • Facilitate PFMEA, DFMEA participation, and other risk assessments to prevent defects and strengthen product and process conformity.

  • Lead cross-functional root cause analysis and CAPA using 8D, A3, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and effectiveness verification to reduce recurrence and nonconformance.

  • Analyze quality trends and KPIs, including FPY, DPU, cost of nonconformance, capability, and recurrence, and translate findings into actionable Power BI reporting.

  • Lead process, product, and system audits; communicate quality performance to shop-floor teams, leaders, customers, and internal or external auditors.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of progressive quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including quality planning for a new facility or major production-line launch.

  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001:2015, audits, nonconformance management, CAPA, PFMEA, root cause analysis, control plans, SPC, MSA, and process capability.

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, specifications, and product requirements and to lead multidisciplinary teams without direct authority.

  • Experience using data and digital tools to improve quality processes; proficiency with Power BI and experience with SAP or similar business systems.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

  • Experience with electrical products, automated quality processes, Salesforce, Lean manufacturing, value-stream mapping, traceability, calibration, and inspection or test-equipment management.
