About this Position: This position is located in the Road Design section at DOTD Headquarters and serves as a member of an in-house Road Design squad responsible for developing roadway construction plans for projects ranging from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges. Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR

Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR

A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties:

• Serves as a member of an in-house Road Design squad responsible for developing roadway construction plans for projects ranging from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.
• Reviews plans for compliance with DOTD design standards.
• Assists with quality control, construction cost estimates and final plan assembly.
• Assists with the training of design staff.
