Full job description

The Staffing Coordinator works in conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for coordinating nursing staffing needs. Additional duties include providing administrative support to the CNO and other nurse supervisors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, coordinates and notifies all nursing staff of their assigned schedule. Posts and distributes nursing schedule.

  • Maintains an accurate staffing system and staffs all units with the appropriate number of clinical staff according to the census and acuity on a 24-hour basis.

  • Keeps CNO and Shift Supervisors apprised of all staffing changes and needs.

  • Assists CNO in departmental orientation for all new hires within the nursing department.

  • Assists CNO with assuring nursing personnel are up to date on all competencies and regulatory requirements.

  • Functions as an inter-departmental liaison and assists in maintaining a good rapport with other departments and personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

  • Associate’s degree preferred

  • Three (3) years’ previous experience in healthcare staffing and administrative support role PREFERRED.

  • Current CPR certification

  • CPI obtained within 60 days of hire

  • Health care experience, particularly inpatient psychiatric experience, preferred.

  • Maintains confidentiality of employees, patients, and vendors at all times.

  • Detail oriented with accurate data entry skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
