Job Title: Field Service Calibration Technician Job Description

The Field Service Calibration Technician performs precision calibrations and dimensional measurements both in a laboratory setting and at customer manufacturing facilities. This role calibrates dimensional inspection equipment, documents measurement results, interprets engineering specifications, and ensures measurement accuracy in accordance with customer and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and verification of dimensional measuring equipment.

  • Conduct measurements according to calibration procedures and customer requirements.

  • Operate precision measurement systems including UMMs, optical comparators, and surface plates.

  • Document calibration results within calibration software platforms.

  • Interpret specifications and tolerances to determine pass/fail conditions.

  • Identify and report out-of-tolerance findings.

  • Maintain calibration standards and customer-owned equipment.

  • Travel to customer sites throughout the region to perform onsite calibration services.

  • Follow all company safety, quality, and documentation procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Experience using precision dimensional measurement equipment.

  • Proficient with calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, test indicators, bore gages, thread gages, gage blocks, and pin gages.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.

  • Strong documentation and computer/data entry skills.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Comfortable with overnight travel up to 25%.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Calibration Technician, Metrology Technician, Quality Technician, or Quality Inspector experience.

  • Experience operating Universal Measuring Machines (UMM), Optical Comparators, Surface Plates, Supermicrometers / Bench Micrometers.

  • Familiarity with calibration software (IndySoft preferred).

  • Experience working in ISO-regulated or quality-driven environments.

  • Manufacturing, machining, aerospace, medical device, or defense industry experience.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a temperature and humidity-controlled calibration laboratory, engaging in precision measurement and metrology work. It includes detailed inspection and documentation activities. The position also requires frequent travel to manufacturing and industrial customer facilities, exposing you to machine shops, production environments, aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing operations. It combines independent work with customer-facing responsibilities, with overnight travel required approximately 25% of the time.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Pay Employees are paid Bi-weekly on Fridays. The Work week is from Saturday to Friday. Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Accrues with the first payroll
  • Employees can carry over 120 hours (15 days) each year.
