Fiber Design Engineer

Job Description

Seeking an FTTH Design Engineer to support nationwide fiber deployment projects. This individual will own designs from creation through delivery, make engineering decisions, maintain network data across systems, and ensure projects are completed accurately and on time. This is not a CAD drafting role. The ideal candidate understands FTTH network design, constructability, and project execution.

Day-to-Day

Design and maintain FTTH network projects across the U.S.

Make routing, allocation, and constructability decisions

Update and maintain IQGeo designs and associated systems

Manage design tickets, project tasks, and engineering deliverables

Maintain project documentation and as-builts

Partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to resolve design issues

Support project closeout and ensure designs are fully completed and accurate

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of FTTH/FTTx design experience

Experience with aerial and underground OSP fiber design

Ability to make engineering decisions, not just draft designs

Experience managing multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously

Strong knowledge of fiber routing, splice plans, fiber allocation, and network documentation

Experience tracking design tickets, tasks, and project progress IQGeo experience

Previous field, construction, or OSP experience

Vitruvi experience

SharePoint experience

GIS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar telecom design tools
