Project Accountant (Data Center Construction)

📍 Umatilla, OR

💲 $36-$40/hr | Contract-to-Hire

🕒 Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

About the Opportunity

Are you a construction accounting professional looking to be part of a high-profile data center project? A respected builder with more than 140 years of success and over $4 billion in annual revenue, is seeking a Project Accountant to support a major $50 million data center project in Eastern Oregon.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization expanding its footprint in mission-critical and public works construction projects while working alongside experienced project management and accounting teams.

What You'll Do

As a Project Accountant, you'll serve as a key financial partner to multiple project teams, helping ensure accurate project reporting, billing, payroll, and accounting operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage construction-related Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities

  • Process and reconcile project-related financial transactions

  • Perform job costing and project accounting functions

  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes

  • Support internal and external audit activities

  • Process weekly union and certified payroll for project employees

  • Track and support progress billings, retention management, and lien releases

  • Work closely with Project Managers across multiple active projects

  • Process subcontractor payments through Textura

  • Generate and analyze financial reports using Excel and ERP systems

  • Review project contracts and documentation within Procore

QualificationsRequired

  • 3+ years of construction accounting experience

  • Experience with:

  • Accounts Payable

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Job Costing

  • Progress Billing

  • Construction Project Accounting

  • Strong Excel skills including:

  • Pivot Tables

  • VLOOKUPs

  • Reporting & Analysis

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Public works construction experience preferred

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Associate's degree considered with relevant experience)

  • JD Edwards (JDE) experience

  • Sage, Timberline, or other major ERP systems

  • Textura experience

  • Certified Payroll experience

  • Union Payroll experience

  • Knowledge of prevailing wage requirements and L&I regulations

  • Experience working with contractors and subcontractors

  • Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables & VLOOKUPs)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Umatilla, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
