Full job description

Primary Function

The Continuous Improvement (CI)/Lean Engineering Technician is responsible for implementing and sustaining the Lean methodology and Continuous Improvement Framework through initiatives and projects that support operational process improvements, aligned with the organization's culture transformation through Continuous Improvement. All tasks must be performed in accordance with company safety regulations, quality standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Work directly with the implementation and deployment of Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) tools and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF), ensuring compliance with established standards.

Provide support to Operations Assessment (OpA) categories and participate in related strategies and events.

Lead and facilitate events and activities that promote Continuous Improvement and employee engagement through Kaizen events, Rapid Improvement Events (RIE), and Boot Camps.

Direct and implement project management activities, including Kaizen and RIE events.

Develop expertise in ELSS tools to support culture change and employee engagement.

Document time studies, motion studies, and operational sequence analyses as required, providing recommendations for improvements and corrective actions.

Conduct process audits (e.g., 5S, Layered Process Audits (LPA), Process Checks, and others) to promote adherence to standards.

Follow up on temporary and permanent corrective actions to ensure achievement of established goals and efficiencies resulting from events, assessments, and other improvement activities.

Analyze operational issues and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.

Prepare written and statistical reports; demonstrate proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint presentation development.

Create and maintain standard work documentation, including procedures, checklists, and visual aids.

Update and create facility layouts in AutoCAD aligned with physical changes and improvements.

Provide recommendations for continuous improvements in existing and future operational processes.

Prepare and report Continuous Improvement metrics across the plant.

Support the implementation of capital investment and cost-saving projects.

Actively participate in departmental meetings and Tier Meetings to discuss operational and administrative matters.

Develop and deliver training programs while maintaining effective interpersonal communication.

Maintain clean work areas and report unsafe conditions that may affect employee safety.

Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Human Resources policies and procedures.

Education / Experience / Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Electrical, Civil, etc.).

Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment applying Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.

Experience leading employees and facilitating process improvement events through the application and training of Lean and Continuous Improvement tools.

Competencies / Knowledge

Advanced proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both Spanish and English.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

Knowledge of Lean methodologies, RIE, Continuous Improvement Frameworks, and problem-solving tools.

Basic knowledge of statistics.

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Knowledge of multiple operational processes.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.

Experience with AutoCAD, facility layouts, and cell design changes.

Ability to develop and deliver training programs and maintain strong interpersonal communication skills.

Pay Details: $28.00 to $28.75 per hour
